Only 2 more days until Jan 16th- to register an opinion. Hwy 151 Fairfax to the Amanas a trail alongside is needed!

Please encourage DOT to incorporate provisions for bicycle use on Hwy 151 Corridor a regional trails / bikeways loop connecting Cedar Rapids, Amana, and Coralville / Iowa City and smaller communities along the way. Take the survey linked below or email Bryan.Bradley@iowadot.us




Some Trail Updates for 2025 




Morgan Creek

Phase I of the Morgan Creek Trail from 42nd Street past Xavier High School to the east side of the river was bid and is scheduled to be completed in calendar year 2025.

Phase 4 of the Morgan Creek Trail from the Covington Rd. underpass to the west side of the Cedar River is in final engineering and design, anticipate bidding this summer/fall, with construction from mid-2025 into 2026.










ConnectCR

The 4th Street Trail project will extend the Cedar Valley Nature Trail from where it stops at 7th Avenue SE in downtown Cedar Rapids to the future Alliant Energy LightLine bridge over the Cedar River. The Project is expected to start construction in 2025.


Alliant Energy LightLine Bridge - Construction on the bridge will start in  early 2025.

Cedar Lake – Levee work almost done and Trail construction will start hopefully 2025 to 2026




Cherokee Trail

Design work for Phase III from Edgewood Rd NW to 13th St NW has started with construction to be bid in 2025 with completion expected in 2026.  Some alignment changes may occur but basic is above.




Interurban Trail

Design work on both Phases from Bever Park to East Post Rd then East Post Rd to Mt Vernon Rd is expected to begin early 2025. 




Maniti Trail

 Work on the underpass of the Lakeside Drive, is now complete.  Future trail layout work will begin this winter.  The trail will begin as a mowed path until future funding becomes available.























CEMAR Trail:

Last phase of CEMAR remains from Menards to Mount Calvary Cemetery. The sewer project has been completed and all, but one property has been acquired. Ideally the project would be completed during the 2025 construction season, but this could be pushed into 2026.
